Position
The Principal Systems Engineer will develop operational concepts, requirements, architectures and system specifications. The Principal Systems Engineer will ensure practical implementation of our products that is competitive, cost effective, usable, scalable, highly reliable, robust and evolvable. Some specific responsibilities are:
- Gather product stakeholders needs, evaluate and develop system/product/feature requirements
- Convert technical research output into implementable product/feature requirements,
- Participate and provide input in product roadmap planning
- Study tradeoffs between buy/develop scenarios and make recommendations
- Develop high-level implementation sketch and effort estimation for new products and/or enhancements
- Develop technical solutions for standardization (change requests, proposals, etc.)
- Perform technical evaluations of major product enhancements and/or major new customer requirements and/or standards enhancements
- Participate in development reviews to ensure design synthesis and proper system validation,
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant emerging technologies, industry standards and support the company in associated R&D Planning
- Ensure that the product meets relevant industry standards, where applicable
- Provide systems support to research, product marketing and product deployment
- Participate in development of technical solutions, pre-sales technical support, and RFP processes
Experience
- MSEE/MSCS with a minimum of 12 years of experience in wireless product design and development
- Experience in systems engineering processes; proven ability to take concepts into deployable systems
- Must have proven wireless standards experience
- Must have a broad working knowledge of communication and data processing technologies, systems, and products (preferably in wireless)
- Very good understanding of various wireless standards (such as GSM, IS136, CDMA and UMTS) at the network and preferably also at the radio interface
- Has developed and deployed telecom carrier grade products
- Very familiar with developing real time carrier grade telecom software, spanning system, functional and FCAPS
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent people and project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to prepare and present comprehensive presentations to customers at all levels
