Product Manager- Wireless

Position


  • Identify new product and/or market opportunities using a variety of sources including existing customers, current and emerging competitors, industry and market analysts, and trade event
  • Prepare and champion Business Case for new products, new releases, and customer change requests (enhancements to current product(s) derived directly from customer requests)
  • Facilitate requirements gathering with customers through customer visits, user groups, partner meetings, cross-functional internal meetings, analysis of customer enhancement requests and other means
  • Write Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) / Vision documents, and work with R&D to refine the requirements and establish specific functional and technical requirements for each release of the MLC
  • Review detailed design documentation, intermediate and final builds with R&D and QA to ensure that the release stays in line with the Vision
  • Responsible for communicating product and market strategy throughout the organization 
  • Manage and maintain MLC product binder
  • Make build, buy, and partnering recommendations where appropriate
  • Responsible for MLC product usability and functionality
  • Assume leadership role through management of the Product Development Process
  • Establish and facilitate interdepartmental work efforts to assure delivery of complete product support upon roll out
  • Monitor product development at predefined checkpoints to assure compliance with requirements, functional specifications and market strategy; report status to Senior Management team and recommends risk mitigation strategies
  • Act as primary channel with Sales organization for product requests and new product release information
  • Work with marketing to define and develop sales support and collateral materials
  • Manage product life cycle and submit plans to Senior Management for life cycle-related development and retirement activities
  • Provides Sales support through customer visits, conference calls and other activities as appropriate

Experience


  • Provide Customer support through site visits and conference calls as appropriate to help ensure the customer is maximizing the value they are getting from their MLC solution
  •  MSEE/MSCS. MBA is a plus
  • 10+ years experience in Software Product Management - experience with multi-national wireless telecom software/product vendor would be an advantage
  • Product engineering and/or product development background would be an advantage
  • Strong technical understanding of markets, products and services in the wireless location ecosystem
  • Technical understanding of existing location technologies (e.g. GPS) would be an advantage
  • Good working knowledge of 3GPP standards in the radio and/or core network
  • Previous participation in wireless standards would be an advantage
  • Experience with mobile location systems and with provisioning systems, billing management systems related to all types of location based services
  • Additional experience in Professional Services, Consulting, Project Management and/or Sales Engineering
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
