Systems Engineering Manager

Position
The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for the successful realization of the company's products. You will be a key member of the management team and the thought leader for all of system development.
- Define the customer needs and required functionality
- Define the architecture, external interfaces and functional description of the system
- Responsible for system, product and feature requirements, design synthesis and system validation
- Ensure that the systems remain superior and cost competitive in the marketplace
- Responsible for system performance, functional operation and practical implementation
- Responsible for technical evaluations of major system enhancements and major new customer requirements
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant emerging technologies and support the company in R&D Planning
- Ensure that the system meets relevant industry standards, where applicable
- Systems support to research, sales, product management, marketing, engineering and deployment
- Budget and capital management
- Work with existing and potential new customers to understand their problems and translate them into practical, scalable, cost effective, and easily deployable and manageable product/feature requirements
- Be the key driver in all system architecture activities for standardization
- Develop and maintain SoC to all applicable standards
- Participate in internal standards roadmap planning and external standards meetings
- Develop and manage requirements into research projects ensuring ultimate productization will be practical, measurable and evolvable
- Ensure system/product architecture enhancements will be evolvable, scalable, manageable and easy to use
- Ensure that system evolution does not adversely impact key system characteristics
- Participate in review of all critical system design and test documents
- Drive continuous product performance improvements through effective monitoring of inservice products
- Lead the system improvement initiatives
- Develop and maintain external product specific interface specifications
- Provide technical solutions support in the RFI/RFP process and other pre or post sales processes
- Provide system level technical support in customer meetings
- Strong leader, software product/systems development, wireless network market, carrier grade, deployment experience, wireless standards and network architecture, project management.
- MSEE/MSCS with a minimum of 12 years of experience in software product/systems development, ideally worked both as an individual contributor and as a leader.
- Experience in software engineering processes as it relates to product development for the wireless network market.
- Proven ability to take concepts into deployable products. Understands essential elements of product engineering. Can take a product concept and break it down into subsystems and prioritized feature sets. Has developed and deployed telecom carrier grade products.
- Very good understanding of various wireless standards and wireless network architectures (such as GSM, IS136, CDMA and UMTS) at both the network and radio interface.
- Preferably has actively participated in wireless standards development; either as editor and or CR preparation and or defending contributions in standards meetings.
- Has good knowledge of computing platforms and trends.
- Must have a broad working knowledge of wireless communication and data processing technologies and products.
- Self starter, thought leader and out of the box thinker. Understands leading technologies and how to exploit them in creating innovative products.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent people and project management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to prepare and present comprehensive presentations to customers at all levels.
